About the profession
International law is very important for development of any state. Experts in the sphere of international law all over the globe assist both in foreign policy development, and in development of local legislation so that it does not go against international principles of law.
Basic Principles on the Role of Lawyers. Adopted by the Eighth United Nations Congress on the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, Havana, Cuba, 27 August to 7 September 1990.
Educational process
Master’s Degree program “International Law” was devised to prepare top-ranked specialists in the sphere of international law. Well known not only in Russia but abroad experts in international law have been training both legal practitioners and legal scholars in the best fundamental traditions and in step with the times.
The Department of International Law in collaboration with CIS Network University offers students the possibility of completing a Master's Degree program “International Law of CIS Countries”. Students under this program study one year at a partner university, and one year at the Institute of Law of RUDN University. Master’s thesis is supervised by academic advisors from both partner universities, which enables the graduates to apply comparative methods of research.

Practical training
Traditionally, all students of Master’s Degree specialization program “International Law” undergo practical training at the Department of International Law in the form of teaching practicum. Among other places for practical training are Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, The Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications, State Space Corporation ROSCOSMOS, Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North (RAIPON), The International Committee of the Red Cross. Such training is very important for acquiring practical knowledge in the sphere of international law, as well as business communication in international organizations.
Career
Alumni can apply the acquired knowledge while working in international organizations, embassies, consulates, in the public service (in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation); as well as practicing lawyers facilitating the filing of complaints to the European Court of Human Rights, and at other international courts.
