About the profession
Environmental problems in recent decades have become "eternal companions" of the development of modern civilization. The acuteness of these problems is caused by the massive involvement of natural resources in the sphere of economic activity of mankind and the large accumulation of production and consumption wastes. Therefore, such importance is acquired by "Earth Sciences", studying the Earth and its main geospheres, their composition, structure, evolution and properties; geophysical fields, deposits of solid and liquid minerals; studying natural, economic and anthropogenic systems and structures at the global, national, regional and local levels involved in monitoring the state, the development forecast and the environmental impact assessment of all forms of economic activity.
Geoecology is a complex science at the junction of ecology, geology, geochemistry, biology and geography. It deals with the interaction of geographic, biological (ecological) and socio-production systems, studies how the amount of resources on the surface and in the depths of the earth varies under the influence of man and natural factors. Geoecologists also deal with the issues of rational use of land resources, environmental problems of mining, mining waste etc.
The program of professional training of the staff of the highest qualification has as its goal the formation of the necessary knowledge of the students, skills, abilities, experience for the professional activity and preparation for the defense of scientific and qualification work for the Ph.D. degree; as well as the creation of training conditions for the acquisition of a high level of theoretical and professional training for the students, knowledge of general concepts and methodological issues in the field of earth sciences, a deep understanding of the basic scientific and pedagogical problems and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge to solve research and applied problems in this area of training with further satisfaction of the needs of society and the state in qualified specialists with higher education; formation of a civic position in the students.
