About the profession
The programme is oriented to training forensic specialists. Since forensic technologies have transnational and unifying nature, there is the need for training specialists in standardization of judicial and expert activity within the scope of the International Technical Committee on Forensic Investigation, cooperation with SCO Member States, as well as cooperation with the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI).
Educational process
Study of applying the potential of modern forensic science and its utilization in the practice in crime detection, as well as disposition of cases in court; regularities in formation and development of forensic investigation of different classes, types and forms, typing their objects, aims, and ways of investigation, as well as situations and ways of using these resources in legal proceeding; problems in theory and practice of operational investigations in detection, prevention and exposure of crime, investigative activities and criminal litigation, restraint and neutralizing criminal counteraction to the criminal proceedings.
Disciplines
Methodology of Judicial and Expert Activity, current issues relating to application of special knowledge in modern judicial proceeding, basic principles of operational and investigative activities of criminalistics, and basic principles of quality management in forensic investigation.
Practical training
Inextricably connected with forensic, organizational and methodical activity in the Russian Federal Center of Forensic Science at the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, having a wide network of forensic institutions all over Russia. Practical training is a mandatory component of the post-graduate curriculum. It consists in such practical activities of post-graduates teaching certain subjects, class activity management, scientific and methodical work on a subject, and acquisition of necessary teaching skills.
Career
Postgraduates of the Department are employed in various forensic institutions and federal state governmental authorities (Federal Budgetary Institution Russian Federal Center of Forensic Science at the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, judicial and investigating authorities, etc.). Having successfully completed the educational program, our alumni can work in Russian and foreign forensic institutions not only as experts in forensics, but as managers organizing forensic investigation and scientific research.
